Study of the effect of illumination wavelength on fingerprint images
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a novel technique of fingerprinting analysis using direct imaging instead of traditional fingerprint scanners. Effect of illumination wavelength on the quality of fingerprint images is studied and optimal wavelength for direct imaging is proposed. The results presented can be extended to direct imaging of faces. Keywords—fingerprint; hyperspectral images; fingerprint scanner; image contrast; image quality.

Title: Study of the effect of illumination wavelength on fingerprint images
Illumination sources play an important part in the image generation process. Image generation and display has traditionally been limited to three colors. However, the advantages of hyperspectral imaging are becoming popular now [1]. Illumination of objects with various wavelengths can provide valuable information that cannot be obtained by three colors only. Applications of such techniques can ...

Background: Human skin more than any other part of the body, is exposed to the risks of diseases and complications of labor. One of the applications of study on the relationship between skin and diseases is use of fingerprints in the diagnosis and the subsequent treatment of it. We analyzed the fingerprint images of two systematic diseases namely diabetes and addiction. Methods: The f...
متن کاملEffect of annealing and UV illumination on properties of nanocrystalline ZnO thin films
ZnO thin films with preferred orientation along the (002) plane were prepared onto the glass substrates by the sol-gel spin coating method for different post- annealing temperatures. The XRD study confirms that the thin films grown by this method have good crystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure. The optical band gap of the samples was determined from UV-visible spectra. It is found that the s...
متن کاملSynthesis of CdTe quantum dots coated with biocompatible materials and investigation of their identification Properties
Fingerprint identification or dactyloscopy is a method for human identification. The impressions left by a human finger on surfaces are not visible to naked eyes (latent fingerprint); therefore, they require revelation to become visible and identified. Within the last century, several fingerprint revelation techniques such as optical, physical, and chemical were studied. These traditional metho...
متن کاملImage Enhancement via Reducing Impairment Effects on Image Components
In this paper, a new approach is presented for improving image quality. It provides a new outlook on how to apply the enhancment methods on images. Image enhancement techniques may deal with the illumination, resolution, or distribution of pixels values. Issues such as the illumination of the scene and reflectance of objects affect on image captures. Generally, the pixels value of an image is ...
